The Wadden Sea National Park contains tons of oysters, and they can be picked and prepared by anyone who wants this taste experience

The Wadden Sea National Park invites for unexpected and overwhelming experiences, and there are many ways to observe the world's most important tidal zone, the Wadden Sea National Park and UNESCO's World Heritage. For stimulation of all your senses make a trip into the habitat of oysters. You´ll go into the sea by low water, just a few hundred meters from the coast, where you can pick up lots of oysters - the world's most perky raw material.

How to eat oysters

In the cold months leading up to September / October and up to the month of April, you can collect oysters yourself, bring them home and enjoy at home or enjoy them in the fresh air. The oyster can be eaten in many ways, in fact it is almost only the imagination that limits how you can cook an oyster. A good tip is to drink wine or cold beer for oysters.

The traditional ways to cook an oyster are: Raw Oysters, Marinated Oysters & Gratinated Oysters.

Oysters recipies

Natural taste

Oyster Natural

The most intense taste experience is found by tasting the oyster completely natural. Add just a little freshly ground pepper.

Hot taste

Oysters with tabasco

Add a small drop of tabasco to the raw oyster into the shell. Tabasco helps giving the oyster flavour while keeping its natural flavour.

Good for beginners

Oysters with lemon

Adding a small drop of lemon juice into the shell of the oyster is a good starter recipy, because the lemon neutralizises the salty tast from the water.
