Skærbæk is located on the edge of the Marsh and the Wadden Sea and a stone's throw from Rømø.
The city is located on an elevation from the ice age and makes it possible to look out over the marsh.
In the city you will find a large holiday center for you who love an all-inclusive holiday with the family.
Skærbæk forms the junction to the north between Tønder and Esbjerg and to the west to the Rømø dam and the Wadden Sea. The town functions with medical center, grocery stores and District school as the center of the surrounding villages. One of the most talked about people in Skærbæk's history is Pastor Jacobsen. He has been a priest in the city from 1884-1904, an unscrupulous, German-oriented, drunk, enterprising and inventive man, who was responsible for the establishment of a German bank and many other projects such as an internationally known weaving school, sailing to Rømø and the famous "Nordsøbad Lakolk ”. Jacobsen went bankrupt and fled to Germany, but had boosted tourism on Rømø. Skærbæk today has a large sports and leisure center with 100 holiday homes for rent and, brand new, a large space for motorhomes with a fantastic view of the countryside and the sea.
