For many years, Møgeltønder has been characterized by Schackenborg Castle, which has had different owners, and which today is managed by the Schackenborg Foundation.
Møgeltønder is an idyllic village with cobbled streets and linden trees, an adventurous castle and a showy Baroque church from the 17th / 18th century. Schackenborg Castle underwent a major renovation and became the residence of Prince Joakim and his family until 2014. The castle park is welcome to visit and guided tours through the castle tell the story. To the castle belongs the castle inn with stately rooms and sensual gastronomic experiences as well as the manor house, which is used as a cafe. Slotsfeltladen, Denmark's largest barn with a thatched roof, originally built for storing straw, functions as a culture house with exhibitions and concerts and shows the history of the surrounding area and the golden horns. In Møgeltønder there is a campsite with a pool, cabins for rent and a playground.
