The Museum of Fine Arts in Tønder displays Nordic art from the 20th and 21st centuries with changing exhibitions. The museum also contains the exhibition with the urban child Hans J. Wegner's chair gift, which can be seen in the Water Tower.
The museum also exhibits special exhibitions with works from the rich design tradition in the Nordic countries. All exhibitions are presented in large, light and sensory spaces, which in themselves strike a Nordic tone. The building is from 1999.
The water tower is today designed as a museum for the famous furniture architect Hans J. Wegner's chair gift in 1995. The gift consists of the 37 chairs that he thought would best represent his design in the birth town of Tønder.
